Basketball Students get a Breakers Treat

Kirk Penney and Izzy Tueta from the Skycity Breakers paid a visit to Basketball students and Junior Sports Performance students on Tuesday, 13 September.

Zara Cook and Ralph Sanchez did a wonderful job of interviewing the star basketball players and spent nearly an hour asking some great questions followed by students being given the opportunity to have photos taken and get some signatures.

Kirk has a very long list of basketball credentials and so was able to give some very interesting advice to students.  Izzy joined the Breakers 3 days ago from Australia, as a short term replacement for Shea Ili due to an injury and was excited to have his first ever Maori welcome.

A number of staff and students then attended the game in the evening where the Breakers played the Brisbane Bullets.  Although it was an exciting game, the Breakers ended with a loss of 70 to 80, but that didn't stop the excitement of a home game.

Mount Maunganui College thanks the Skycity Breakers for this wonderful opportunity for our students to gain some great advice, ask some good questions and meet some idols.
