SEPTEMBER 2024

It has been another significant term for Mount Maunganui College, with winter sports season drawing to a close and some big results to acknowledge. We have provided a high achievers section further in the newsletter. Still, I would like to note the success of our premier boys' basketball team, which won the Central North Island title during Winter Tournament week. It is a phenomenal achievement. Noteworthy also is our 1st XV Rugby winning the Baywide title for the second time in three years, having made the final four years in a row. Our 1st XI Girls’ Football finished 1st at the Maurice Hulme Tournament, and our Rockclimbing team Won the New Zealand Secondary Schools Top School Trophy.

A couple of relatively recent head students feature in this newsletter with 2019 Head Boy Louis Donovan rising to prominence in the parliamentary halls and 2020 Head Girl, Molly Shivnan competing for New Zealand at the World Lifesaving Championships. There are also been some notable results and selections for other past students featured below.

It has been a big year for our Arts programme with students earning a few national awards and some talented students performing at an international level. If you live local and are looking for a great evening of phenomenal entertainment, our annual Arts Awards are being held at Baycourt on Tuesday, 22 October 2024. Tickets are available here.

We are always keen to hear what our past students are up to and keen for you all to circulate this newsletter with your networks and encourage people to sign on.
