MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou,

Today’s newsletter outlines to our community the implications of the COVID-19 Public Health Response (Vaccinations) Order 2021.  While these are indeed challenging times for our school community we wish to assure families that as of 16 November 2021 anyone working with our students will be compliant with the Public Health Order.  Our commitment to providing a healthy and safe environment for our community remains resolute.

KEY INFORMATION TO PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS

The Ministries of Health and Education have provided guidance to schools around the application of mandatory vaccination requirements.

Parents and caregivers are NOT required to be vaccinated for the following:

  • Attending meetings or events on-site (for example school interviews)
  • Dropping off, picking up, or settling children at a school or kura
  • Using school facilities after hours (for example outside basketball court, swimming pool)

Parents and caregivers ARE required to be vaccinated for the following:

  • Involved in education outside the classroom (EOTC), learning experiences outside the classroom (LEOTC) programme or excursion
  • Involved in volunteering at the school (for example coaching, managing sports teams, camps and cultural groups)
  • Providing homestay accommodation for international or domestic students

COACHES, MANAGERS AND OTHER VOLUNTEERS

As indicated above, all volunteers are required to be vaccinated and the school needs to maintain a register. If you are currently working in a volunteer capacity with our students you should have received an email asking you to supply evidence.

If you are unsure this mandate applies to you contact Dan Meade danm@mmc.school.nz if you are involved with sport, or principal@mmc.school.nz for other areas of the school.

VACCINE REGISTER FOR STUDENTS

A directive from the Secretary for Education under the Education and Training Act 2020 Schedule 25, Clause 3 requires all registered schools who enrol students over the age of 12 years to maintain an up-to-date register with the COVID-19 vaccination status of these (eligible) students.

Evidence of vaccination could include:

  • A screenshot of their vaccination record on My Covid Record (for those 16 and over)
  • A vaccination certificate can be requested from the Ministry of Health
  • A letter from their GP

Caregivers can update their child's vaccination status and evidence by logging into the Parent Portal.  If you do not have your login details for the parent portal please contact the school office.

Thanks to all families for their understanding during these times.
