WAIKATO BOP CROSS COUNTRY

The Waikato BOP Cross Country Championships were held last week in Taupo with Mt College runners achieving its best results in many years. Lucy Bartlett won the Year 9 race from 65 other runners and with Olive Abrahams, 7th, Ava Neilson, 19th and Tegan Sloan, 22nd placings making Mt College the overall winning Year 9 girls team. Other outstanding performances were achieved by Lucia Cook placing 5th in the Junior girls race, Sam Proctor placing 14th in the Year 9 boys race, Fiona Stanelum, 25th and Ella Barratt, 23rd all running well. This weekend is the NZ Secondary Schools Cross Country Championships which are also going to be held in Taupo and we have a small team competing in this.

BOPSS CROSS COUNTRY

This event was held at Waipuna Park on Tuesday continuing on from the running of our school cross country last week. Our girl runners won 3 of the team titles winning the 3 and 6 runner teams in the Year 9 girls race and 3 runner team title in the Junior Girls U16 race. Lucy Bartlett came 2nd, Olive Abrahams, 5th, and Ava Neilson, 12th, easily won the 3 runner team title in the Year 9 girls race with Tegan Sloan,15th, Kasha Stokes, 23rd, and Olivia Marlowe 37th contributing to the team winning the 6 runner title.
In the Junior Girls U16 race Lucia Cook came 3rd, Ella Barratt 5th and Fiona Stonelum 10th won the 3 runner team title which was pleasing to see.
 The best performances from our boy runners was Sam Proctor 4th in the Year 9 Boys race, Salem Broughton 12th in the Junior Boys U16 race and Sam Sheaff 11th in the Senior Boys race. Other placings from our runners were Jed Davis 17th, Caleb Andrews 25th, Xavier Crawford 27th in the Year 9 Boys and Sonny Eades 22nd, Jack Kelly 23rd in the Junior boys U16.

Bay of Plenty Cross Country Championships 2016

At the Bay of Plenty Cross Country event held at Waipuna Park, Welcome Bay. Mount Maunganui College had seventeen students compete.

Outstanding performances came from Tanner Baxter who had a strong run and was in the top 10 for majority of the race placing 12th in the junior boys competition. Hope Preston came in the top 10 for the junior girls finishing 9th. Our best performance of the day came from Sophie Sandford who ran particularly well in the intermediate girl competition placing third and Sam Sheaff placed 9th in the intermediate boys event. Steven Whyte had an outstanding race in the senior boys race placing 5th and Brooke Picken placed 10th in the senior girls race.

Bay of Plenty Cross Country Championships 2016

At the Bay of Plenty Cross Country event held at Waipuna Park, Welcome Bay. Mount Maunganui College had seventeen students compete.

Outstanding performances came from Tanner Baxter who had a strong run and was in the top 10 for majority of the race placing 12th in the junior boys competition. Hope Preston came in the top 10 for the junior girls finishing 9th. Our best performance of the day came from Sophie Sandford who ran particularly well in the intermediate girl competition placing third and Sam Sheaff placed 9th in the intermediate boys event. Steven Whyte had an outstanding race in the senior boys race placing 5th and Brooke Picken placed 10th in the senior girls race.

Mount Maunganui College School Cross Country 2016

Mount Maunganui College School Cross Country was held on Thursday 19th May 2016. Students run from Mount Maunganui College along Marine Parade and onto the beach down to Omanu Surf club and finish back at Mount Maunganui College. 

Congradulations to the following students who placed top 10 in their age group. Some of these athletes will now compete at the Bay of Plenty Secondary Scools Cross Country Championships held on Tuesday 24th May at Waipuna Park, Welcome Bay.
