General Enrolment Information - Year 9 to Year 13

On 30 June 2021, the Mount Maunganui College Board of Members formally approved a new enrolment scheme and zone. This decision was made in consultation with, and at the direction of, the Ministry of Education due to our recent significant roll growth and to future-proof against overcrowding.  This enrolment scheme and selection for entry to the school is based on the Ministry of Education enrolment regulations. It enrols students according to the provisions of the Education and Training Act 2020.

Specific details of the confirmed zone boundaries can be found here

Mount Maunganui College’s enrolment scheme means we will be able to more accurately plan for our future, by having a clear picture of the number of students who will be attending the college. The enrolment scheme and zoning will support us to ensure stable staffing levels and appropriate building resources.

Students who are currently enrolled at Mount Maunganui College are not affected by these changes.

In-Zone Applications - Year 9 to Year 13

The enrolment scheme means that any student living within the Mount Maunganui College zone is eligible to enrol at the college.

The enrolment scheme also gives a right of enrolment to any sibling of a student who was enrolled at Mount Maunganui College as at 27 September 2021. This transitional provision applies for a period of five years from 27 September 2021.  Siblings covered by the transitional provision will be considered in-zone students and will only need to complete an in-zone application form.

Enrolment at Mount Maunganui Intermediate does not necessarily entitle a student to enrol at Mount Maunganui College, zoning boundaries will apply.

The residential address given will be entered on our database under Caregiver 1 and must be the student's usual place of residence.  The burden of proof rests with the student's caregiver(s) - refer to Section 247 of the Education and Training Act 2020.

PLEASE NOTESubject selection will be available once your application has been confirmed.  You will receive an email with a link to select options.  On completion of this enrolment form, due to technical issues with an external provider, you may not see an acknowledgement message following submitting your application.  Therefore please only complete once, and only submit once.  Do not use the browser back arrow to resubmit.  If you do not receive an acknowledgement email from the college within 10 school days, please contact the school office.

2023 Out of Zone Applications - Year 9 to Year 13 (Separate Ballots)

Mount Maunganui College will be accepting a small number of out of zone enrolments for 2023 at selected year levels. These numbers are an estimate, and the school has the right to review this allocation depending on changes to expected in-zone enrolment numbers.

Out of zone enrolments will be based on an order of priority set for all schools by the Ministry of Education. The order is as follows:

  • First priority will be given to students who have been accepted for enrolment in a special programme run by the school and approved by the Secretary for Education. This priority category is not applicable to Mount Maunganui College because the school does not run a special programme approved by the Secretary.
  • Second priority will be given to applicants who are siblings of current students.  The enrolment scheme gives right of enrolment to any sibling of a student who was enrolled at Mount Maunganui College as at 27 September 2021. This transitional provision applies for a period of five years from 27 September 2021.  Siblings covered by the transitional provision will be considered in-zone students and will only need to complete an in-zone application form.
  • Third priority will be given to applicants who are siblings of former students.
  • Fourth priority will be given to any applicant who is a child of a former student of the school.
  • Fifth priority will be given to applicants who are children of employees of the school’s Board of Members.
  • Sixth priority will be given to all other students who live outside the school zone and who wish to attend this College.

You will need to complete the out of zone enrolment form and submit all supporting documentation. The application must include:

  • A copy of your child’s birth certificate.
  • If your child was not born in NZ, a copy of your child's birth certificate,  Passport and Visa
  • A most recent school report.
  • NZQA record of learning for students at Years 11, 12 and 13.
