The Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) plays a key role in order to raise the achievement of children with special education needs. The SENCO takes day-to-day responsibility for the coordination of the provision made for individual children with special education needs. This involves working closely with staff, parents, whānau and carers, and other agencies. The SENCO also provides related professional guidance to colleagues with the aim of securing high-quality teaching for children with special education needs.
As our Careers Manager, Jane is responsible for developing a viable career pathway with each of our students. Using the online careers tool “Dream Catcher’, students are able to begin planning for their careers in Year 9 and will have well established goals and a definite future direction by the time they are in Year 13.
The school nurse is a registered professional nurse who works to strengthen and facilitate the educational process by improving and protecting the health status of children.
The major focus of school nursing services is the prevention of illness and disability, and the early detection and correction of health problems. The school nurse is uniquely qualified in preventive health, health assessment, and referral procedures.
